Mathematicians of

the Non-Standard Type

A different view of Mathematical greats

So often, we present mathematical greats--Newton, Aristotle, Gauss--but often at the expense of historical and current mathematicians who aren't as well-known.  This project, inspired by the blog The Mathematicians Project, has students focus on mathematicians who aren't as common in textbooks.  Furthermore, this project explicitly asks students to not write a "book report" per se on their mathematician, but to produce the information in some other form.  For some, this was a poster, but for others, this was a painting with supplemental documentation or a poem about the connection they felt to this mathematician.
